Black Tie Event

While I was in my nesting phase I got a tip from a friend that a gal in McLean was having baby clothing sale. So naturally I figured cute clothing could be had at a great price! So here she is in our $2 outfit. Love it! Absolutely Love it! Our little chub is getting sooo big!

Loving Saturdays....

So I've had to go back to work. Yes, it is no fun leaving such a beautiful and VERY good baby behind. Saturday morning was a treat. Not only do I get to wake my baby girl up and see her cute arms that she extends and her first smiles for the day, but I also get to view this cute perfect sleeping beauty. Take note that she already mimics mommy with the way she has her blanket covering her body. Arms and legs are free with the covers slightly covering the face. Simply put, a-dor-a-ble. And I couldn't resist the upclose baby skin-so-soft photos. And look at those legs and feet!!!

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day! Today we went to visit a gal from our church who will be watching Aubrey when I return to work until her permanent day care has an opening for her. Who would have ever thought it would take 6+ months and possibly 10 months to get your child enrolled in daycare!??? Daycare in northern Virginia = cost of a monthly mortgage!

Trying to feel the spirit of the day, Aubrey and mom wore pink! We tried very hard to get a smile caught on camera; we even got one of her bashful smirks too. It's funny, Aubrey will be all smiles and coos and as soon as she smiles (especially at strangers) she'll bury her head in my shoulder or a nearby blanket. It also shows off her double chin too. LOL.

Aubrey sends out a cooing "Thank you Grandma Lafleur" for the cute Valentines onesie and sleeper.

Also we got fabulous news that my brothers family will be expecting a baby boy in 20 weeks! How excited we are for another baby cousin to play and coo with! Congrats Rick, Erin and Eraleigh!!

Happy Valentines Day!

Chirps, Coos & Grunts

It's been awhile since I've had a chance to post. So thanks for everyone that's been on our bums to get new stuff posted!

Since Aubrey has been about 8 weeks old she's been cooing and providing heart-stopping smiles to all the family (and strangers!) she's been meeting. It's her way of trying to engage adults into the wondrous world of Bree. It usually starts with a huge ear-to-ear dimpled smile and then her eyebrows sort of furrow, not a full on grumpy furrow face, but a look of contemplation as she carefully chooses how to form the word that surrounds her full heart-shaped lips. Slowly and methodically this "hmm" sound escapes with a gentle "coo" followed by a deep guttural raspy sound. It sounds kind of like an "R" being rolled but deep in the back in her throat. I suppose it's a good thing her first and middle name are French?

The past two weeks, however, our little Bree has been surprising us with these high pitched chirp like sounds. It's really cute as she's exploring and trying to find her own voice. I just hope this doesn't turn into high pitch screaming tantrums when she hits two! I've uploaded a video of our little talkative chirp-er in her new swing. Hopefully I did it right, it's my first time!??

By the way a huge shout-out and thank you to my sister-in-law, Erin, for letting us use their swing. It's been a life-saver! However, my mom has now been asking for something to put Aubrey in when she is being baby-sat so she can try and multitask while babysitting. Hence the new swing that we had to purchase. So it's currently on loan again at my moms! However, I'm sure it will find it's way back to its original home in about 20 weeks to welcome our new nephew/niece to rock him/her to sleep.

Dress-up

Part of the joys of having a baby AND a girl is dressing our little dolls up. Here are some of the gifts Aubrey has received. A big thank you to both Grandma's and all of Aubrey's aunts and friends for providing some fun attire to wear!

Mirror fun and tummy time

Little Bree Bird doesn't really enjoy tummy time. However, I do try to put her on her tummy during the middle of the day before her nap. For Christmas, Santa got Aubrey a little floor/crib mirror. She loves her mirror!! And I have to say that it helps make tummy time less burdensome for the little one, or at least I like to think it does...

I love these photos for the color. Her tummy mat is a rain forest theme and plays bouncy frog chirps and calming running river sounds -- the sounds you'd expect to hear in the rain forest, right? Also, I wanted to capture her little friar tuck bald spot that she's sporting. And no, I don't keep her on her back all day long. She has a tendency to rub her head back and forth before she naps/sleeps and I wish she wouldn't do that because she's rubbing off her beautiful locks of hair. I suppose it would be vain of me (and against all books written since I was a baby) to lay her on her tummy to sleep?? Don't worry, I have her sleeping on her back.

Also, this photo is depicting her awesome neck control that she's gained. She can push up her body now and hold her head between 45 and 90 degrees.

Spit-up Mishaps

As Aubrey continues to get bigger her intake of milk is suppose to increase. However, sometimes just the opposite occurs. I think this photo was after we had fed our little girl approximately 6 oz. Aubrey is getting bigger though; here she is at 3 months of age.

I got a lot of delight in this photo. I know I shouldn't relish in the payback joys I get from this photo, but I can't help it, especially when my husband comes home and doesn't get what I do ALL day with a baby. I'm sure there are many moms out there (and to be fair.... dads, grandmas, caregivers, etc) who can fully attest to the many outfits (as well as "hats") we wear in one day. Don't worry, Aubrey got me pretty good after I ventured to try 7 oz with her a few weeks later. LOL. That "explosion" meant the carpet, new rocking chair, blanket, mom and baby outfit had to be changed. I suppose this is part of the joys of motherhood? :o/

Note that Brian had just washed one of his favorite long-sleeved tees. And if you look closely in the 2nd photo, you can see the spit-up marks that trailed behind as Brian pranced to the tiled are of the kitchen. Yes, prance! Each prancing step a glop of spit-up fell on my newly professionally cleaned carpet. I'll never forget Brian's look. We were discussing a home that we've been thinking of buying in the bedroom. I was on my bed and Brian had Bree. Aubrey had been fed over an hour earlier and Brian was holding slightly bouncing the little chub. All of a sudden and from no where there is this little cough and then out goes this fountain of white stuff. Nope, this human faucet didn't have a small leak, but rather a small burst in her pipes. Brian immediately pauses and looks to me for guidance on what he's suppose to do!!?? In an instant I say, "To the tile, to the tile!" (aka to the kitchen) Brian's reaction wasn't immediate. It was as if he was trying to avoid having her regurgitation not hit his newly washed long sleeve tee. His ill attempt at dashing...umm prancing....to the kitchen about 10 feet away left a small filmy/frothy, whitish saliva trail for me to clean as he washed up not only himself, but our little fountain.
